Society of Illustrators Visit

The trip to the society of Illustrators was an overall great trip and taught me many aspects of being an illustrator. The purpose of the Society of Illustrators is to promote and appreciate the history and evolution revolving around the art of illustration. They also educate and contribute the service of its members to the welfare of the community at large. My favorite drawing from the Society of Illustrators is the one above with the Shark and Octopus. I like animals and sea creatures, and that is one reason why I like this piece. Another reason why I like this piece is because of the cartoon look it has and the attention to detail. The shipwreck in the background really is a great touch to the art piece and makes it look like the painting is underwater. The attention to detail is really nice to see because that is something I need to work on with my drawings. I would also like to know how to make something look 3D, I am not good at drawing characters but I can think of ideas. No information was given about the drawing, but it doesn't make the art piece any less interesting. Going to the museum and art pieces makes me want to create characters and draw my ideas. I would like to know how the drawing was made and what techniques the illustrator used to create the drawing. A lot of the pieces there were different from each other and showed a story or an opinion. I would like to know the inspiration for the shark drawing and if he got stuck during the process. The guest was cool and inspiring, I like her work and how she presented her work. Her process of making the cover and characters for the book really showed me and everyone else how it was to be an illustrator.
