Final Logo Reflection

Final Logo Reflection

25 pencil roughs

The 25 pencil roughs took about two to three days to complete. I need to do some of it at home because I didn't do all of it in class. This task was one that made me use a lot of creative thinking because I needed to think about 25 creative ideas and draw them all out, I am not the best at drawing, but I surprisingly did pretty well. I think that I use rough 1, 5, 6, 9, and 23. I think modified six a bit and changed nine a bit as well. The customs letters from five and one were ones I saw online and tried to hand draw, they turned out well and looked great. The custom letters fit really well with my brand and idea of the company of game designers and creators. In rough 23 I tried a jungle theme and wanted to see where that would take me and if that would fit with the logo. Rough 8 was a good idea but I didn't draw it well, I would have wanted to try it in the electronic roughs. I think that I should have tried to create more icons for my logo so I didn't have to create one later.

 5 electronic roughs

The 5 took should have taken about two to four days to complete but it took about two weeks. I made about 20 roughs but I lost it because I had it saved on another account and lost it all. I had to take about two to three days to create 25 more. This was the second task that made me use a lot of creative thinking because I needed to think about 45 creative ideas and had to create my custom logo two times. I had another custom font that I created in the other 25 rough that I felt really good about. I like using the custom letters I made and think that "AB" with "game"  below it looks great. The arrow with an eye in it was the icon for my brand and had to change the size for a few of the roughs. The arrow is supposed to be a bird, like the Phoenix but I don't think that I could have created that in time. I love how the logos turned about and had a lot of fun messing around with the type and placement. This was one of my favorite assignments and had a lot of fun making these logos.

2 selects

The 2 selections took about 2 days and made us change the font, color, icon, shape, and scale/ hierarchy of two of my favorite logos. I used the gradient tool a lot for the color, mainly because I liked the way it made the icon look. For the type, I mainly stuck with serifs, slab serifs, non-serifs, and futuristic fonts. For icons and shapes, I tried messing around with shape tools. Lastly, for hierarchy and scale, I played with the placements and size of my brand name. This was the third task that made me use a lot of creative thinking because I needed to think about 50 creative ideas. The hardest part of the assignment was to create five different versions of my icons. I like messing around with the placement of the words and changing their size. The second logo didn't have an icon so I made the custom letters the icon. I messed with negative and positive spaces to make them different from each other. Changing the shape of the logo was weird because my second logo didn't have any shapes, so I decided to put shapes in the name. This was a pretty fun assignment as well. c:

10 final tweaks

The ten tweaks took about 2 days to finish. I took my favorite aspects of some of the two select categories. I chose two aspects from the icon, two from shapes, and one from color. For the type, I stuck with the original font because it looked the best in my opinion. If I had to choose another one then it would be the top right one. I also didn't change the hierarchy or scale. I felt that the original one fits better and didn't need any change. I liked how the shapes looked with my second logo and mixed the two to see how it looked, and it turned out great. Like in the two selections, I liked playing with the placement of the name and messed around with that. I didn't mess around with the size this time and changed the distance between letters instead (Kerning). I chose my second logo for the ten tweaks because I put a lot more work into that than the first one. I had a control version of my logo because something weird was happening to the text box. My favorite out of all of the tweaks is the bottom right one. The name fits well there a looks good overall.

Final Logo

This didn't take any time to finish because I just had to choose which one looked the best to me. The other tweaks looked fine, two of the tweaks stood out to me, but the original looks better to me. I like how the shapes look in the name and how it fits the futuristic theme of my brand. There are a few small tweaks I can make to the logo that could make it look better, but for right now it looks fine. One small tweak I would make is to increase the kerning of "BLAZE" by a bit because it doesn't have anything and it would make the name look a bit better than it is right now. The big letters look fine and wouldn't make any changes to them right now. I like how the negative space makes the letters look like it has been cut. I didn't mess around with the size of the letters, if anything I would probably change the kerning of it. I don't know if the color of the logo looks too good, I might change it to red or keep it the way it is. This whole assignment was fun and exciting.
